Despite the fact that sub-Saharan Africa has the largest bamboo forests and accounts for 3-4% of the global bamboo coverage, the untapped potential of bamboo resources in Africa has significant social, cultural, and ecological implications. The bamboo resource has tremendous potential for creating green employment and restoring degraded land. This session will provide a forum for researchers, policymakers, and innovators to present bamboo-based innovations and best practices for land restoration in Africa using bamboo. It affords the opportunity to network and form partnerships with various actors in the bamboo sector for the purpose of restoration.
The session will include PowerPoint presentations, short video excerpts, posters, demonstrations, and interactive audience discussions regarding future actions.
