This international event will be the first of its kind globally and is organised and hosted by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi under the framework of the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative.
It aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge science on mangrove ecosystems and the implementation of best practices for mangrove conservation and restoration. Key themes include: best practices in mangrove restoration, integrated seascape approach to restoration, mangroves in the Arabian Peninsula, and climate mitigation and adaptation through restoration.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Global Mangrove Alliance, the University of St. Andrews, the IUCN Mangrove Specialist Group, the Zoological Society of London, Wetlands International and Emirates-Nature-WWF.
