Co-led by The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Land Day will focus on three key areas: Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), showcasing successful land restoration initiatives, and the role of private sector collaboration through the Business for Land initiative. By promoting successful land restoration initiatives and cross-sector partnerships, Land Day will drive global action towards achieving Land Degradation Neutrality by 2030 while contributing to broader climate and biodiversity goals.
Key objectives:
- Raise awareness on land degradation, promote restoration solutions and address the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem pollution through land-based initiatives
- Advocate for NbS to scale sustainable land management, enhance restoration efforts and integrate the three Rio Conventions
- Highlight the private sector's role in land restoration to address challenges, harness opportunities and foster partnerships with non-state actors.
