The Task Force on Monitoring, led by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) brings together 335 technical experts from 116 organizations tasked with collaboratively developing a monitoring framework for the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021–2030).
This framework, named Framework on Ecosystem Restoration Monitoring (FERM), will enable consistently and transparently monitoring and reporting of the progress of restoration efforts throughout the duration of the UN Decade. It is composed of a registry that compiles data on restoration activities and initiatives from various data sources, and a geospatial platform for visualizing data.
The FERM will play a key role in reporting progress under the UN Decade and the Convention on Biological Diversity post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework Target 2.
