The G20 Global Land Initiative was initiated during the Saudi Presidency of G20 with an ambition to achieve 50% reduction in land degradation by 2040.
The GLI and the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER), are co-hosting a workshop on standards-based ecological restoration of mined sites.
The workshops will be held from 2-4 October in Perth, Australia. It will include both classroom (1 day) and field time (2 days). The workshop is intended to be participatory and interactive. The curriculum will be tiered to the SER International Principles and Standards for the Ecological Restoration and Recovery of Mine Sites.
We are expecting officials and experts involved in planning and implementing mine decommissioning and restoration to attend. Participants in the workshop are encouraged to also attend SER2023, the 10th World Conference on Ecological Restoration, in Darwin, Australia from 26-30 September. October 1 will be a travel day to transfer from Darwin to Perth for those who attend both.
Please note that the GLI has some funding to support participation of delegates at both the conference and the mining restoration workshop. If you need funding to be able to attend, please be sure to fill out the relevant questions below.
