The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office in Brussels and FAO's Forestry Division, together with the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) are jointly organizing a session on "Implementing and monitoring forest and landscape restoration" on 16 December 2022. Register now!
The United Nations has declared 2021–2030 the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (UN Decade), with the aims of preventing, halting and reversing ecosystem degradation on every continent and in every ocean; building political momentum; and creating a global movement and scaling up successful restoration actions.
FAO works with key partners and countries, through several programmes contributing to national and international commitments and processes. The organization facilitates key restoration partnerships such as the UN Decade.
The Czech Republic seeks to enhance further sustainability in agriculture, especially in the fields of livestock farming, fisheries, food systems, forest management, agricultural and food supply, and biodiversity conservation. Discussions on the proposal for a regulation on nature restoration have started under the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU.
This event will offer the opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives on implementing and monitoring progress on ecosystem restoration as foreseen in the recent European Commission proposal for a regulation on ecosystem restoration and its alignment with the UN Decade.
