Professor Lü Zhi is a conservationist in China whose work covers multiple disciplines and bridges academic research and practices. She has studied ecology and conservation of endangered species in southwest China and on the Tibetan Plateau. This includes the giant panda and the snow leopard as well as their interactions with humans. She has led initiatives on community-based conservation and citizen sciences in both rural and urban contexts and promotes economic incentives, cultural values and policy improvements to seek opportunities of coexistence between human and nature. She is involved in conservation policy making at regional and national levels in China, and is an active member of international conservation discussions.
