There has been increased attention to and understanding of the linkages between the climate and biodiversity crises in recent years as was recently focused on nature-based solutions for climate and other challenges and exemplified in the 2022 United Nations Environment Assembly resolution on nature-based solutions (United Nations Environment Assembly of the United Nations Environment Programme 2022).
The briefing paper on the “Seven Lessons on Using Ecosystem Restoration for Climate Change Adaptation” prepared by UNEP for the Global EbA Fund identifies general features of ecosystem restoration and climate adaptation that have implications for how ecosystem restoration for adaptation can be advanced. This policy paper also seeks to illustrate many of these features through an examination of a range of examples where restoration has built climate resilience including setting out seven lessons on using ecosystem restoration for climate change adaptation
The launch will be held on 9th May 2023 at 14.00 – 15.00 (EAT GMT +3)
